When looking at our cities, can you see the life that you imagined leading? Where do you spend your time? Are our cities inspiring and comforting? Do they offer beauty and health, opportunities and creative experience? Are they rich in culture and distinct in identity?

UNStudio, the wonderfully imaginative firm of Dutch architect Ben van Berkel, has built something virtually unheard of in the architecture world: a shopping mall that doesn't suck.

New York architect Andrew Burdick's solution: Instead of building new fields, which would sap major time and money, extend the number of hours existing ones can be used.
