The National Aquatics Center, aka the Water Cube, aka that icon of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, which, along with the Bird’s Nest, came to symbolize the financial toll of a massive international sporting spectacle, has reopened as a water park. And, naturally, it’s an even bigger spectacle.
Conserve Insight is a new home energy monitor from Belkin billed as a tool to help you “[f]ind out how much energy your devices really use.” Hook it up to appliances and it can tell you how much CO2 they’re emitting, how much they cost to run, and how many watts they draw. Forget, for a moment, the theatrical, faintly sinister marketing language at work here, and mull on this: Should we even care?

DJ's usually trash other DJ's who eschew turntables in favor of iPods and laptops--the idea being something like: "Man, to feel the music, you gotta have old school skills and really feel it."
Bullshit. That's like saying to really experience the essential genius of the wheel, you shouldn't power your car with an engine; instead, you should punch a hole in the floor and use your feet.
