Echo Auditory Wayfinding Training Kit

Echo is a training kit designed to teach auditory and wayfinding skills after a sudden loss of vision. While many current programs offer outdoor training, Echo helps to restore independent mobility in an indoor setting through the use of different sound modules that are motion-sensitive and simulate a range of scenarios. For example, Echo can simulate the sound of oncoming traffic or a door opening so that users can learn how to use these sounds to navigate. It also syncs with a cloud-based sound library that can be customized for each individual by uploading mobile phone recordings--you can upload the sound of your microwave beep, or alarm clock. The product, which provides data logging and assessment tools for therapists, is intended for use in professional rehabilitation centers.
