The Digital Hand

The Digital Hand project explores the difference between handmade and machine-made objects in the digital age. The project uses a Kinect to track the movements of a person; different elements of that person’s movements are then put through an algorithm to design three physical objects: a table, a blanket, and a dish. For example, the movements of the person’s fingertips determine the undulations on the dish, while their distance from the camera determines the pattern on the blanket.
