For the brand’s first flagship store, designer brand WANT Les Essentiels wanted to create the look and feel of a person’s home. Located in the West Village of Manhattan, the boutique leads guests through a light-filled first floor “living room” (actually an accessories showroom) into “the wardrobe” (a collection of men’s and women’s apparel) before continuing to “the tearoom,” where there actually is tea… as well as a carefully curated selection of essential tools for everyday living. Curated by WANT Les Essentiels cofounders Byron and Dexter Peart along with interior designer Maria Rosa Di Ioia, the space is supplemented with European mid-century furnishings, eclectic decorations, and minimalist American art to make patrons feel more like guests than customers.
